Earthquake & Tsunami Disaster
Song : "Real to me" by Brian McFadden
The recent Tsunami that took place on 26 December 04 has been the worst natural disaster that has happened in the last 100 years.
It attacked when almost of us were happily celebrating the festive season of
Christmas with families and friends and also when we're goin to have a new years' 05 blast!
This traumatic disaster was struck SE Asia (Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Indonesia!)
>> How the Tsunami affected Indonesia..
Ok, Aceh, which one of 32 Provinces Indonesia is one of the hardest-hit areas..
and then, Only one day after Tsunami waive and tectonic quake, people began to realize how devastating the situation was.
TV stations aired scenes of rows of dead children and destroyed communities.
Nias Island, a part of N. Sumatra Province was also hit by the quake and tsunami. From here there were more than 100,000 fatalities and thousands more have been left without shelters, minimal food and jobs.
The devastation has left some of the villages in the West coast of Aceh with a mere 10% of their original populations.
So far, the earthquake and tsunami have claimed over 68,000 lives in Sri Lanka, India, Thailand and Malaysia..
and more than 110,000 people, thousands remain missing not to mention countless families rendered homeless and children orphaned.. in Aceh!
And do you know, It will take years for the devastated areas to rebuild..
That's why i am tremendously saddened by the terrible impact of the earthquake and tsunami that tragically happen in MY OWN country.
My thoughts and prayers are for the many who have been affected-havin lost family and homes or indeed, livelihoods from this tragedy-
or who have had friends and family injured or killed.
They’re also facing the practical aspects such as a lack of fuel, transportation, number of volunteers as well as psychological trauma, risk of trafficking of orphaned children and spread of disease.
That’s why many events have included working on an emergency base camp providing clothes and general fund raising for the Indonesian Red Cross.
(making large donations to emergency relief funds) and also they need lot of volunteers.. (to help them evacuated their relatives who’ve died or else..)
Once again, my sympathies are with all those who have suffered personal loss.
